It all started back in 1889 when Tui Brewery Founder Henry Wagstaff stumbled upon the mighty Mangatainoka River, while stopping off for a quick cuppa.
He reckoned he’d just found the perfect spot for one helluva brewery. Then he had another dream involving personally hand-picking woman to work in it. Gorgeous woman.
These days, there definitely is something in the water alright – hops, yeast and some of Henry’s genius thrown in for good measure. It’s a combo that seems to have gone down pretty well with the lads too, cos they’re still knocking his ales back over a hundred years on. Which just goes to show – stopping off at your local watering hole is always a bloody good idea.
